Tanzanite is a rare, vibrant blue-violet stone found in only one small area of the world- The Merelani Hills of Northern Tanzania, near Mount Kilimanjaro. Due to limited geographic quantities, it is considered more rare than natural diamonds. It has been named the birthstone for December.
